Travelodge Online Assessment and SJT Guide
What Travelodge asks hotel applicants to complete online, how it is scored, and what follows for team members and managers
What the Travelodge assessment is
Clevry, a UK assessment company, publishes a case study on Travelodge describing a "fully bespoke psychometric assessment journey" for hotel team members. Its consultants spent time in Travelodge hotels before designing two tests:
- A Travelodge situational judgement test,"based on real customer and team member interactions and situations across Receptionist, Cleaner and Bar Café roles".
- A Travelodge personality questionnaire, which measures values and culture fit, and your behavioural and emotional style in relation to the job.
Both are mapped onto Travelodge’s values of teamwork, customer focus and continuous improvement. Recruiters receive a sifting score for quick decisions, an overall value-fit score, and interview questions tailored to your profile. So what you say in the questionnaire can come back to you at interview.
Where you take it
The tests sit behind Travelodge’s own applicant system, which passes you to a Travelodge-branded portal on Clevry’s Psycruit platform. Its welcome page reads "Travelodge questionnaire online" and asks for the email Travelodge sent you, which holds your instructions and password. The portal’s help pages explain how it behaves:
- Each timed test opens with an instruction page that states the time limit and the number of questions, and you can suspend from that page and come back later.
- Once a timed test starts, you finish it in one go. Personality questionnaires have no time limit and can be split across sittings.
- Clevry will not explain how the assessments are scored, only that results are used alongside other information about you.
The wider selection process
Travelodge’s vacancies hints page says its selection process depends on the role’s complexity, level, challenges and location, and is likely to combine some of: a telephone interview, a competency-based interview, work-based assessments, in-tray exercises or role plays, psychometric testing, and case studies and presentations. Hotel team roles cover reception, housekeeping and the bar, across more than 580 hotels.
Managers, and the route up
Travelodge has no graduate scheme. Instead it runs Aspire, an internal programme that offers development "from Team Member to Hotel Manager", with a nationally recognised hospitality qualification for Hotel Managers and Assistant Hotel Managers. Managers are also hired directly: a Hotel Manager advert posted on 3 November 2026 for Crewe offered £30,000 full time equivalent and a bonus of up to 13% on KPI targets. The case study covers team member roles only, so for management roles the hints page above is the better guide.
Practise the format
Nobody outside Travelodge and Clevry knows the bespoke items, and our tests are Clevry’s standard versions, not Travelodge’s. They are useful for the platform’s rules and the style of judgement and self-report questions.
- Clevry Graduate/Managerial SJT (30 minutes) - Clevry’s own SJT, pitched at graduates and managers, with Most and Least answers. Travelodge’s answer format is not published.
- Clevry Personality Questionnaire (Core) (20 minutes) - Clevry’s standard personality questionnaire. Travelodge’s is bespoke; use this to practise describing yourself consistently.
Read our guides to situational judgement tests and personality questionnaires for how each is built and scored.
Common questions
Does Travelodge use Clevry?
Yes, according to Clevry’s own case study, and the Travelodge portal runs on Clevry’s platform. The case study is undated, so treat it as how the process has worked rather than a promise of what you will see this year.
How should I answer the scenarios?
Think as a team member on shift with a guest in front of you. The test is built from real reception, housekeeping and bar situations and reported against teamwork, customer focus and continuous improvement, so weigh each option by those three values.
Can I find out my score?
No. The portal says scoring is not disclosed. Travelodge receives the results, and the tailored interview questions are where you are most likely to see them reflected.
