Terms of Service

Last updated: 12 September 2026
Version: 1.12.0

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using this practice platform ("Service"), operated by CogniPrep Ltd, you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to these Terms of Service, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

We provide an online platform for practicing cognitive skills through various games and exercises. The Service includes:

  • Access to our free practice games at no cost, limited to a set number of free plays per assessment provider without a purchase. Additional assessment-provider games are locked until you unlock that provider with a one-time purchase, which also removes the play limit for that provider
  • Performance tracking and progress monitoring
  • Premium upgrade, which unlocks scores, percentile rankings, and detailed statistical feedback reports after each session
  • Interview Practice, a video-based interview simulation feature with AI-powered feedback on your verbal content and presentation
  • Assessment Centre Exercises, a separate product line of job-simulation practice (e-tray, in-tray, written, presentation, group discussion and role-play). The exercises themselves can be practised without limit; the AI review of written answers is limited to a fixed number of successful reviews per exercise, because each AI-scored submission has a processing cost. A failed review does not count towards that limit, and once it is reached the exercise can still be practised without AI feedback on the written answers. Access is via a one-time unlock.

3. Educational Purpose and Game Disclaimers

3.1 Educational Purpose

This platform is designed for educational and practice purposes only. The games and exercises are intended to help users familiarize themselves with cognitive assessment formats and improve their skills through practice.

3.2 Independent Platform - No Affiliation

This platform is completely independent and has NO affiliation, partnership, endorsement, or connection with any psychometric assessment provider or employer. Names of assessment providers such as Arctic Shores, SHL, Aon, Pymetrics and others, and names of employers, are the trademarks of their respective owners. Any reference to them is purely for descriptive and informational purposes, to help users understand the general type of assessment our practice games are inspired by and which providers an employer is publicly reported to use.

We are an independent educational platform that creates our own original practice games based on common cognitive assessment principles and formats found across the industry.

3.3 Games Are NOT Exact Replicas

Our practice games are NOT exact replicas, copies, or simulations of any specific assessment provider's proprietary games. While our games are inspired by common psychometric assessment formats and test similar cognitive skills, they are independently designed and developed by us.

Users should not expect our games to be identical to actual assessments they may encounter. Actual assessments may differ significantly in format, mechanics, difficulty, timing, presentation, and user experience.

Because we are independent and not affiliated with any assessment provider, a difference between our games and an actual assessment is expected and is NOT a basis for a refund (see Section 5.3). If you feel any of our games is not sufficiently close to the real assessment, please do not request a refund; instead, contact us immediately at support@cogniprep.app describing what differed, so that we can review and improve the game. We actively use this feedback to make our practice games better, but we do not offer refunds on this basis.

3.4 Scoring and Evaluation Differences

Our scoring algorithms, evaluation methods, and performance metrics are entirely our own and are NOT based on, derived from, or similar to any assessment provider's proprietary scoring systems. The scores, percentiles, feedback, and analytics you receive on our platform are calculated using our independent algorithms and should not be interpreted as representative of how you would be scored on actual assessments.

Different assessment providers use different scoring methodologies, weighting systems, normative data, and evaluation criteria. A score on our platform does not predict, indicate, or correlate with scores you might receive on actual assessments.

3.5 No Guarantee of Assessment Success

Using this platform does NOT guarantee success, improved performance, or any specific outcome in actual psychometric assessments. We make no representations or warranties about the effectiveness of our practice games in improving your performance on actual assessments.

Performance on our practice games may not reflect, predict, or correlate with performance on actual assessments. You acknowledge that:

  • Actual assessments may use completely different game mechanics, formats, and scoring methods
  • Practice does not guarantee improved scores on actual assessments
  • Low scores on our platform do not mean you will receive low scores on actual assessments
  • High scores on our platform do not mean you will receive high scores on actual assessments
  • Our feedback and analytics are educational tools, not predictive assessments

You agree not to hold us liable for any assessment outcomes, employment decisions, or other consequences related to your use of this platform. The primary benefit of our platform is building familiarity and confidence with cognitive assessment formats through practice, not replicating specific assessment scoring systems.

3.6 Practice and Confidence Building

The value of this platform lies in helping users become more comfortable and confident with cognitive assessment formats through repeated practice. Regular practice may help reduce anxiety, improve familiarity with similar game mechanics, and build general cognitive skills. However, any improvement in actual assessment performance is likely due to increased confidence and reduced test anxiety rather than our games being identical to actual assessments or our scoring matching actual assessment scoring.

3.7 Assessment Centre Exercises (Different from Games)

Assessment Centre Exercises are a separate product from the practice games and do not have unlimited AI-scored retries. Practice games are limited to a set number of free plays unless you have unlocked that provider. Any exercise that includes AI-scored written feedback is limited to three (3) AI reviews per exercise, while the exercise itself can still be replayed. This limit exists because each AI-scored submission incurs a real processing cost; it is not a reflection of your performance.

The scores, ratings, strengths, improvement suggestions and other feedback generated for written responses are produced by an automated AI language model for educational purposes only. This feedback is our own independent, automated output. It is not produced, reviewed, endorsed by, or comparable to any employer's or assessment provider's marking scheme, and it may contain errors, omissions or inconsistencies. It does not predict, indicate or guarantee how a human assessor would evaluate your response and must not be relied upon as a professional or definitive assessment of your ability.

The multiple-choice and decision-based portions of exercises are scored against our own expert-designed answer keys, which represent our independent view of effective workplace behaviour. They are not derived from, and do not replicate, any specific employer's or provider's competency framework or scoring.

3.8 Employer Guides

Our employer guides describe which assessment providers an employer is publicly reported to use, based on sources we have reviewed. Employers change their hiring processes without notice, and we may be out of date or wrong. A guide is not a statement of what you will face and is not a basis for a refund.

4. User Accounts

4.1 Registration

You must create an account to use certain features of the Service. You can register with an email address and password or sign in with Google or GitHub. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete. Accounts created with an email address must verify that address before making a purchase.

4.2 Account Security

You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4.3 Device Limit

Each account may be used on a maximum of two (2) devices. The first two devices you sign in on are registered to the account and cannot be changed. This is how we prevent account sharing, and it applies to every account, free or paid.

4.4 Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use this Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

5. Payment and Refunds

5.1 Digital Products

We offer the following one-time digital purchases. There are no subscriptions and nothing renews automatically.

  • Free - Access to our free practice games at no cost, with a limited number of plays per provider. Other games remain locked until unlocked
  • Provider Access - A one-time purchase that unlocks all practice games for a specific assessment provider with unlimited plays. The price depends on the size of that provider's suite
  • Premium Upgrade - Adds scores, percentile rankings, and detailed statistical feedback reports across all games. Premium does not lift the free-play limit; only Provider Access does
  • Provider Access and Scores bundle - Provider Access and the Premium Upgrade bought together at a reduced price
  • Assessment Centre Access - A one-time unlock of all assessment centre exercises
  • Interview Access - A one-time pack of interview credits, currently enough for up to twenty (20) interview sessions

Prices are displayed in a currency that matches the country your visit comes from, as a guide. All purchases are charged in pounds sterling (GBP), and your bank or card issuer sets the exchange rate. Current prices are shown on the pricing page and at checkout.

5.2 Payment

Payment processing is handled securely by Stripe. You agree to provide current, complete, and accurate billing information. All purchases provide immediate access to digital content.

For purchases made from the European Union, the sale may be processed by Stripe acting as merchant of record. In that case Stripe is the seller for that transaction, local VAT is calculated and added at checkout based on the billing address you enter, and Stripe's terms for that purchase apply alongside these Terms. Your access to the product, and your relationship with CogniPrep, are unchanged.

5.3 No Refunds - Digital Products

All digital products and purchases are final and non-refundable. Because our service provides immediate access to digital content upon purchase, we do not offer refunds for any reason, including but not limited to:

  • Change of mind after purchase
  • Dissatisfaction with the practice games or content
  • Poor performance on actual assessments after using our platform
  • Differences between our games and actual assessments
  • Unused time or features
  • Technical issues on your device
  • Any other reason

By making a purchase, you acknowledge and agree that all sales are final. If you feel our games are not sufficiently close to an actual assessment, this is not a valid reason for a refund; instead, please contact us immediately at support@cogniprep.app so we can review and improve the game (see Section 3.3). Refunds will only be provided where required by applicable law (such as consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction).

5.4 Discount Codes

We sometimes issue discount codes: school codes, promotional codes we email you after you sign up, friend referral codes, and affiliate codes. All codes are subject to the following:

  • One code per purchase, applied at checkout
  • Codes apply to Provider Access, the Premium Upgrade and Assessment Centre Access only. They cannot be applied to Interview Access
  • A code may have an expiry date, a limit on the number of times it can be used, or a limit per account. Promotional codes we email you are tied to your account
  • A friend referral discount can be used once per account, on your first purchase with a referral code
  • We may withdraw or change a code at any time before it is used. A code that has already been applied to a completed purchase is honoured

6. Interview Practice Feature

6.1 Credits

Interview Practice sessions are gated by credits. Credits are obtained by purchasing Interview Access (Section 5.1) or occasionally granted by us. One (1) credit is consumed per completed interview session. A credit is deducted only when you submit all five recorded answers, not when you start a session or record individual questions.

6.2 Credit Purchases: No Refunds

Interview credits are purchased as a digital product and are non-refundable once used. Unused credits remain in your account indefinitely and are not subject to expiry. If processing of your interview fails due to a technical error on our side, your credit will be automatically refunded to your balance.

6.3 Video Recording Consent

By starting an interview session you explicitly consent to:

  • Your device camera and microphone being activated and used to record your video responses
  • Your video recordings being uploaded to and stored on our secure cloud storage (Cloudflare R2)
  • Your video and audio being processed by our AI systems (including OpenAI) to generate a transcript, content analysis, and non-verbal presentation scores
  • The generated feedback, transcript, and scores being stored and displayed to you in your account

You may withdraw this consent at any time by not using the Interview Practice feature. Existing interview data can be deleted from your account settings.

6.4 AI Analysis Disclaimer

Feedback generated by the Interview Practice feature is produced by automated AI systems and is intended for practice and self-improvement purposes only. AI-generated scores and feedback do not constitute professional career advice, psychological assessment, or any form of guaranteed evaluation of your employability. Results may vary and should not be used as the sole basis for any employment or career decision.

6.5 Video Retention

Raw video files are automatically deleted from cloud storage as soon as AI processing completes successfully (typically within minutes to a few hours of submission). If processing fails, your credit is refunded and you can ask us to remove the recording. Processed feedback, transcripts, and scores are retained in your account until you delete them or close your account.

7. Referral and Affiliate Programmes

7.1 Friend Referrals

Every account can share a referral code. When a friend uses it on their first purchase they receive a discount, and once their payment completes you are granted one free Provider Access unlock. The reward has no cash value, cannot be transferred, and is granted only after an automated fraud check. The check looks at whether the same payment card has been used on more than one account and how many rewards you have already received. If it trips, your friend keeps their discount but no reward is granted; you can ask us to review that decision.

If the friend's purchase is refunded and the reward has not yet been used, the reward is withdrawn. Creating accounts to refer yourself, or otherwise gaming the programme, is a breach of these Terms and may result in rewards being withdrawn and accounts being closed. We may change or end the programme at any time; rewards already granted are honoured.

7.2 Affiliate Programme

Creators and educators can be invited to our affiliate programme. Joining requires an invitation from us and a payout email address. When a buyer uses your affiliate code they receive a discount and a commission accrues to you, both calculated as a percentage of the list price and fixed on your invitation.

  • Commission accrues only when a payment completes, and is reversed if that payment is later refunded or charged back
  • Payouts are made manually, in batches, to the payout email you gave us. You are responsible for any tax due on commission you receive
  • You must not misrepresent CogniPrep, use your code on your own purchases, or bid on our brand in paid advertising. We may end your participation and withhold unpaid commission if you breach these rules
  • We may change commission rates or end the programme with notice to you. Commission already accrued is paid out

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Use automated systems to access the Service without permission
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
  • Use the Service to transmit malware or harmful code
  • Submit personal data about other people, or your own sensitive personal data, in free-text fields, interview recordings, exercise answers or help questions

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Our Content

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

9.2 Your Data

You retain all rights to your personal data, game performance data, recordings and written answers. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to use this data to provide and improve the Service.

10. Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the Service, you agree to our Privacy Policy.

11. Optional Information and Feedback

11.1 Application Goals

After signing up, we ask two questions: which employer you are applying to, and which role. Both are chosen from lists we provide, and both offer an “Other” option so you never have to state something inaccurate - pick it and you can type the company name, or the job title, up to 80 characters each. Please put only a company name or a job title there - no personal details. We work out the sector from the role you choose rather than asking you for it, and we no longer ask what level you are applying at.

11.2 How These Answers Are Used

We use them to decide which practice tests to show you first, to show you on your dashboard which assessment providers your chosen employer uses and which of those you have not practised yet, and, in aggregate, to decide which assessment providers to build next. They are not shared with employers, they are not used to score or rank you, and they have no effect on your results or your access to any feature.

11.3 Retention and Deletion of These Answers

We keep these answers for a maximum of 2 years from the last time you updated them, after which they are deleted automatically by a daily job. You can view, change or delete them at any time under Settings → Application Goals, and they are deleted immediately when you use “Delete All My Data” or close your account.

11.4 Review Prompt

If you have paid for something and completed a few activities, we ask you one time whether you would leave a review on Trustpilot, alongside a skip button. This is asked once per account and never again, writing a review is entirely optional, and nothing about your account changes either way. A review you write is published by Trustpilot under their terms, not ours. If you want something changed, added or fixed, email support@cogniprep.app; we aim to respond within one day. That is a target response time, not a guaranteed one, and it is not a commitment to make any particular change.

11.5 Support and AI Help

You can contact us through support tickets, bug reports and email. The in-app help assistant answers questions automatically using an AI model and may be wrong; it cannot change your account or make commitments on our behalf. Anything it says about refunds, pricing or your account is subject to these Terms.

12. Email Communications

12.1 Service Emails

By creating an account, you agree to receive transactional and service-related emails from CogniPrep. These include account confirmations, email verification, security alerts, billing notifications, interview feedback notifications, important service updates, and other communications necessary to operate your account.

12.2 Offers

In the days after you sign up, if you have not bought anything, we may send you a small number of emails offering a discount on a CogniPrep product. If you have bought something, we may email you once about the friend referral programme. These are about CogniPrep only, and you can stop them at any time with the unsubscribe link in any such email.

12.3 What We Won't Send

We do not send marketing emails from third parties, sponsored content, or any emails unrelated to CogniPrep and your use of the Service. Any product or feature announcements we send will be about CogniPrep only.

12.4 Unsubscribing

Every non-essential email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Using it stops all offers and announcements. You cannot opt out of emails that are required to deliver the Service (for example, password reset emails, receipts and security alerts).

13. Disclaimers

13.1 Service Availability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

13.2 Not Medical Advice

The Service is for educational and entertainment purposes only. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Always consult with qualified healthcare professionals for medical advice.

13.3 Performance Results

We do not guarantee specific results from using the Service. Individual results may vary based on many factors.

14. Limitation of Liability

14.1 General Limitation

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.

14.2 Assessment Outcomes

We expressly disclaim all liability for any outcomes related to actual psychometric assessments, employment decisions, educational opportunities, or any other consequences that may result from your use or reliance on this platform. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Low scores or poor performance on actual assessments
  • Failed job applications or lost employment opportunities
  • Differences between our scores and actual assessment scores
  • Reliance on our feedback, analytics, or performance metrics
  • Time or money spent on purchases
  • Expectations that practice would improve actual assessment performance
  • Any claims that our games misrepresented actual assessment formats or scoring

You acknowledge that you use this platform entirely at your own risk and that we make no guarantees about the relationship between practice on our platform and performance on actual assessments.

14.3 Maximum Liability Cap

In no event shall our total liability to you for all damages, losses, and causes of action exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months prior to the claim, or £100 (whichever is less).

15. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms. Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Service will immediately cease
  • You may request deletion of your data as per our Privacy Policy
  • We may delete your account and data after a reasonable period

16. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we do, we bump the version number and “Last updated” date at the top of this page and show a notice in your dashboard the next time you sign in, linking to the updated Terms. We do not send emails about policy changes - that in-app notice is the only notification, so please read it when it appears. Your continued use of the Service after such modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

18. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where prohibited by applicable consumer protection law.

19. Contact Information

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us:

  • Company: CogniPrep Ltd, registered in England and Wales
  • Email: support@cogniprep.app

20. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms will otherwise remain in full force and effect.

21. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.
