Aon’s work personality questionnaire: you see two statements at a time and say which fits you better, and each new pair depends on how you answered before.

Time
About 30 minutes, according to Aon’s candidate preparation page.
Format
Pairs of statements. You select the one you agree with more.
Adaptive
Yes. Each pair is chosen using your previous responses.
Item pool
Over 200,000 unique statement pairs, according to Aon.

How ADEPT-15 works

Aon’s candidate page describes ADEPT-15 as about 30 minutes to read and rate 100 statements about your work-style preferences, selecting the statement you agree with more. The statements come in pairs, so every choice is between two descriptions of how you work.

Aon India’s product page calls the format multidimensional forced choice: the two statements in a pair can describe different aspects of personality, and you pick the one more descriptive of you. A model card published by the ACLU, summarising Aon documents, adds that you also say how strongly you agree.

Why no two candidates see the same pairs

ADEPT-15 is computer adaptive. According to Aon, pairs are chosen and matched on the basis of your previous responses, on social desirability and on other psychometric constraints, from a pool of over 200,000 unique pairs. Aon says the approach improves accuracy and security and reduces socially desirable responding.

Aon’s Norwegian help centre describes the same test as adaptive and taking about 25 minutes, built on six overall work styles and the 15 aspects, with statements checked against a local index of social desirability to reduce cultural response bias.

What it measures

ADEPT-15 covers 15 aspects of personality. Ten come directly from the Five Factor model, and Aon says the other five stem from decades of research on leadership effectiveness and learning orientation. The ACLU card quotes some of Aon’s aspect names, including Awareness, Positivity, Liveliness, Sensitivity and Drive.

Results can go into a full work-style report or a shorter candidate report covering strengths and development areas. Aon’s Norwegian help centre adds that they can be linked to a competency model to produce a recruitment report with a match score and an interview guide.

How to approach it

Answer as you actually work, and do not linger. Because the statements in a pair are matched on social desirability, neither is meant to be the obviously better one to pick. When both fit you, choose the one that fits better and move on.

How our practice version works

Our ADEPT-15 practice gives you 75 statement pairs, five to a page over fifteen pages. For each pair you mark one of seven circles between the two statements to show which fits you better and how strongly, with a grey marker in the middle. It is untimed, and you cannot go back to an earlier page.

Our pairs are not adaptive. They are built fresh each sitting from our own statement bank, with each aspect appearing a set number of times, and the result is a work-style profile for reflection rather than a score.

Questions candidates ask

How long does ADEPT-15 take?

Aon’s candidate preparation page says about 30 minutes. Aon’s Norwegian help centre gives about 25 minutes.

Why do both statements in a pair seem equally good?

Aon matches the statements in each pair on social desirability, among other constraints, and says this reduces socially desirable responding.

Does everyone get the same questions?

No. ADEPT-15 is adaptive and draws each pair from a pool of over 200,000, based on your earlier answers.
