Morrisons Graduate Scheme Assessment Guide

How Morrisons selects its graduates and degree apprentices, and how to prepare for the online evaluation that comes first

Stages
Online interactive evaluation, then a virtual or face to face assessment centre, then a face to face final presentation.
Run with
Amberjack, whose case study covers 2017 to 2023 and whose portals take 2027 applications. Morrisons names no test vendor.
Schemes
Eight graduate schemes starting September 2027, plus degree apprenticeships with the Universities of Bradford and Strathclyde.
What counts
Morrisons says a positive attitude and good fit matter more than your degree subject.

The stages Morrisons describes

Morrisons’ graduates page says that "the application process for all of our graduates schemes is made up of an online interactive evaluation, virtual or face to face assessment centre and face to face final stage presentation". Its advice page fills in the middle: some schemes use video interviews, and an assessment centre typically lasts a day, with a group exercise, an analysis task and presentation, sometimes a role play and finally an interview.

1
Application
Through Morrisons’ Apply Now page. The advice page suggests applying early, so you are among the first invited to an assessment centre.
2
Online interactive evaluation
The first test. Amberjack’s case study describes this stage as a short registration, a situational judgement test and a video interview with programme-specific case studies.
3
Assessment centre
Virtual or face to face, typically a day: group exercise, analysis task and presentation, sometimes a role play, then an interview.
4
Final stage presentation
Face to face, for every graduate scheme.

Who runs Morrisons’ early-careers recruitment

Amberjack, a UK early-careers recruitment and assessment company, publishes a case study on its work with Morrisons. It describes a four-stage process of "a short application form, immersive blended assessment, assessment centre and final round interview", with case studies, group exercises and role plays at the assessment centre built to mirror life at Morrisons. Between September 2017 and September 2023, it says, Morrisons made over 1,000 early-careers hires this way.

For the 2027 intake, Morrisons’ Apply Now page sends graduate and degree apprentice applicants to portals on Ambertrack, Amberjack’s applicant tracking system. That shows Amberjack still runs the campaign. It does not prove the evaluation itself is Amberjack’s, and Morrisons does not say, so practise the format without assuming every detail will match.

The graduate schemes

Morrisons lists eight graduate schemes for 2027: manufacturing buying, manufacturing operations, technology, finance, buying, corporate, people and retail. All start in September 2027, and Morrisons opens applications each September. Amberjack’s case study counted ten schemes by 2023, so the line-up changes between years. Requirements differ by scheme:

  • Retail: a two-year route to store management through rotations across supermarkets and convenience stores. A 2:2, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, and willingness to commute up to 25 miles; the hours include early starts, late finishes, some nights and weekends.
  • Finance: three finance placements while you study for a Level 7 CIMA qualification, with Morrisons paying the exam fees. A 2:1 and a full UK driving licence.
  • Technology: joining the teams behind what Morrisons calls a giant change programme to become a digitally focused retailer. A 2:1 in a STEM subject and a full UK driving licence.

These three schemes ask that you are in your final year or graduated within the last two years. When we checked on 5 November 2026, all three were marked closed for 2027.

Degree apprenticeships

The retail degree apprenticeship is a three-year scheme that ends with you as a Manager in a store, studying for a BSc (Hons) in Retail and Business Management at the University of Bradford; in Scotland the degree is a Graduate Apprenticeship BA in Business Management. You need 112 UCAS points and grade 4 in GCSE Maths and English. Degree apprentices apply through their own Ambertrack portal, and the 2027 retail degree apprenticeship was still open on 5 November 2026.

Store roles are a different process
Morrisons’ FAQs mention an online assessment for Customer Assistant applicants, sent by email with a link that can expire once a deadline passes or enough applications arrive. Nothing we found names who supplies it, so this page does not cover it. You need to be 16 and have finished school, and Morrisons can take up to three weeks to review an application.

Practise the format

These rehearse Amberjack’s formats, not Morrisons’ own items, which are not published. Neither includes the video interview; prepare for that with the STAR method, using examples that fit the scheme you chose.

  • Situational Judgement (Most and Least) (10-20 minutes, free) - The stage Amberjack’s case study names for Morrisons: workplace scenarios, marking the Most and Least effective response.
  • Future Potential Blended Assessment (30-45 minutes) - Amberjack’s full sitting, scenarios plus inbox emails with figures, in case your evaluation goes beyond judgement questions.

Our guide to situational judgement tests explains how scenario questions are scored and the mistakes that cost most marks.

Common questions

Does Morrisons use Amberjack?

For its graduate and degree apprentice campaigns, yes by Amberjack’s account: it publishes a case study covering 2017 to 2023, and the 2027 applications go through its portals. Morrisons itself does not name the supplier of the online evaluation.

Is there a numerical test?

Morrisons does not say. The case study describes the online stage as a situational judgement test and a video interview, not as numerical or verbal reasoning. If you want to cover the possibility, the full blended practice above includes numerical emails.

What is the final stage presentation?

Morrisons describes it only as a face to face final stage presentation and publishes no brief. The assessment centre before it already includes an analysis task and presentation, so treat that as your rehearsal, and ask the recruitment team if your brief is unclear.
