Monuta Sollicitatie: The TMA Talentenanalyse
Monuta makes the TMA Talentenanalyse part of every application. What it is, where it falls in the procedure and what the follow-up interview does with it
What Monuta says about its procedure
Monuta’s careers site answers the question directly: “De sollicitatieprocedure bestaat uit twee gesprekken en het maken van een online talentenanalyse (TMA).” And it is not reserved for senior roles. “Voor elke functie nodigen we je uit om de TMA te maken,” whether you apply as a medewerker uitvaart, in customer service, as a business controller, buyer, uitvaartverzorger or online marketeer.
Monuta also says it cannot offer an orientation conversation or a day shadowing its staff, so the procedure above is the way in.
Why the TMA is there
TMA’s own case study on Monuta explains the reasoning. The organisation, about 700 people, defined three core competencies that everyone has to meet: resultaatgerichtheid, verantwoordelijkheid and klantgerichtheid (results focus, responsibility and customer focus). Its HR manager puts the link to hiring bluntly: they test those competencies with the Talentenanalyse, “anders blijf je mensen aannemen die niet passen bij je organisatie.”
What the Talentenanalyse involves
- Forced choices. TMA describes it as statements and examples of behaviour from which you repeatedly choose the one that fits you best. It is registered as the TMA Talentenanalyse 312.
- No time pressure. How long you take plays no part in the result, and TMA’s own handbook puts the sitting at around an hour.
- Your current work. Candidates are asked to keep their present or most recent work situation in mind while answering.
- Consistency checks. Some items exist only to see whether your answers hang together, so random answering shows up.
- The result. A profile of 22 drives, each between two poles, reported on a 1 to 9 scale against a Dutch comparison group. Neither end of a drive is better.
If you are applying to become an uitvaartverzorger
Monuta trains its own funeral directors, and its uitvaartverzorger vacancy is the most detailed description of what it wants. It asks for an hbo werk- en denkniveau, preferably shown by a diploma, which it calls essential for completing the training. It wants several years’ experience in business services. Funeral experience and a NaVU certificate are welcome but, in Monuta’s words, not a requirement.
Once hired, you are paired with a buddy and trained through classroom days, practical training and personal coaching by experienced practice trainers. The route leads to a NaVU diploma and registration as a Register Uitvaartverzorger (RU), and Monuta expects you to finish it within a year of starting. The vacancy asks for someone customer-focused, results-focused, able to work under time pressure and with a local network.
How to prepare
Answer as you work now
The profile is discussed with you, so any choice made to look good is one you will have to explain in person. Choose what you actually do in your current or last job, not what you think a funeral organisation wants.
Expect forced choices between two reasonable things
Many pairs offer two attractive statements. That is deliberate, and it is why practising the format helps: the discomfort of choosing between two good options is normal, not a sign you are doing it wrong.
Prepare examples for the three competencies
Have a concrete example ready for results focus, responsibility and customer focus, using the STAR method. If your profile shows a low score on one of the related drives, an example is the best answer you can give.
If a capacity test is on your invitation
Capacity tests reward pace and familiarity more than questionnaires do. Practise number series, verbal analogies and figure series on a clock before you start.
Practise the format
TMA Talentenanalyse (Drives and Talents) (15 to 20 minutes) uses forced choices between work statements and reports a drives profile on TMA’s 1 to 9 scale. Our personality test guide covers questionnaires in general.
TMA capacity practice
For uitvaartverzorger applicants asked to sit a capaciteitenanalyse. These simulate TMA’s subtests; Monuta has not named the publisher of its capacity test.
The full set, including the technical subtest, is on our TMA practice hub.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does every Monuta applicant take the TMA?
Yes. Monuta says it invites you to complete the TMA for every role, as a fixed part of the procedure.
Can I fail the TMA?
There are no right or wrong answers. Monuta uses the profile in the follow-up interview and tests it against its three core competencies, so what matters is whether the picture fits the role and whether you can talk about it.
Is there a capacity test at Monuta?
For uitvaartverzorger applicants without a completed hbo-level education, yes: the vacancy asks them to complete a capaciteitenanalyse. Monuta’s general careers page does not mention one for other roles. Check your invitation, which lists everything you are asked to complete.
