Can You Cheat Cubiks and Logiks Tests?
Cubiks pairs a very fast reasoning test with a personality inventory that removes the flattering answer on purpose.
Logiks moves too fast to look anything up, and PAPI forces a choice between statements that are equally desirable, so there is no good answer to pick.
Two halves, and each defeats a shortcut differently
A Cubiks invitation usually covers two very different things, and it is worth knowing which one you are being asked about. Logiks is a reasoning test with correct answers. PAPI is a personality inventory with none. Candidates who look for a way around Cubiks tend to have one of them in mind and then find the advice does not apply to the other.
Logiks is over before a shortcut can start
The Logiks sections are short. A few minutes each, with enough questions in them that finishing is unusual. That format is not built as an anti-cheating measure, it is built to measure speed of reasoning, but it has the same effect. There is no slack to spend.
Consider the mechanics of a lookup on a four minute section. Read the question, decide you want help, switch windows, search for matching wording, find the item, read the answer, switch back. Twenty five seconds if nothing goes wrong. On a section that short you have just spent a tenth of your entire time budget to answer a single question, and the answer is probably from a different form anyway.
PAPI removes the flattering answer on purpose
The ipsative version of PAPI is the interesting one. Instead of asking you to rate a statement, it puts two statements side by side and asks which describes you better. Both are usually things a candidate would be happy to be. I finish what I start, against I get on well with people I have just met. There is no bad option, so there is nothing to fake toward.
What that produces is a profile of relative preference rather than absolute level. You cannot be high on everything, because every choice is a trade. A candidate trying to construct an ideal employee finds there is no such thing to construct: picking one strength always means declining another.
