Premium Tests
Bridge Numeriek (Numerical)
Dense multi-column business tables and charts with five options, where "None of the above" is a standing fifth option on every question rather than an occasional one. 25 questions on one 17-minute clock, calculator allowed, skip and return. Mirrors the Bridge Numeriek subtest of The Bridge Ability Suite.
Bridge Abstract
Not a matrix test. Worked examples show what each operator key does to a figure, then you are shown a start figure and an end figure and have to say which key did it. Working the rule out backwards is the whole task. 25 questions on one 17-minute clock. Mirrors the Bridge Abstract subtest of The Bridge Ability Suite.
Bridge Ability Online (korte capaciteitentest)
TestGroup's 18-minute unproctored screener, sent to large groups early in a process. Numerical, verbal and abstract blocks on a single clock, scored per domain as well as overall. A separate product from the full Bridge Ability Suite, not a section of it, and TestGroup's own report recommends re-testing on the supervised Suite when the decision matters.
The Bridge Personality (persoonlijkheidstest)
Six work statements at a time on a nine point agree scale. Rate two statements the same and they come straight back as a forced choice asking which applies most and which least, which is the mechanic behind TestGroup’s Normatief-Ipsatief split. Profiles 34 dimensions in four clusters, plus a Jung type and a Bridge colour. No right answers.
The Bridge Career (loopbaantest)
Rate how much you would enjoy work and leisure activities on the same nine point scale, anchored "zeker niet leuk" to "heel leuk". Produces a RIASEC Holland code, thirty interest areas and the eight Schein career anchors. Used far more often for development, outplacement and study choice than as a selection hurdle.
Your real test will almost certainly be in Dutch. Ours is in English, on purpose.
The employer picks the language when they order the assessment, and TestGroup states the choice applies to every product in it. So a Dutch or Belgian employer hiring for a Dutch-speaking role sends you the Dutch version and you do not get to switch.
We have not machine translated anything. A bad translation of a reasoning test is worse than none, because the item is the wording. We have built the formats, the clocks and the interface exactly, kept the content in clear English, and put the Dutch terminology further down this page so you can match your invitation to the right test.
What transfers:the item formats, the three-option verbal logic, the five-option numerical format with its standing "Geen van alle", the operator-inference task in Bridge Abstract, the 17-minute clock, the skip-and-return navigation, and above all the strategy the guessing correction demands.
What does not: Dutch business vocabulary, Dutch number formatting (the real test writes 1.749,30 where we write 1,749.30), and reading speed in Dutch. If you are sitting Bridge Verbaal in Dutch as a second language, practice in English does not close that gap, so read Dutch news and annual reports beforehand.
Which Bridge test have you been invited to?
A short test, about 18 minutes, sent early and taken at home
The Bridge Ability Online, the korte capaciteitentest. Numerical, verbal and abstract on one clock, scored per domain. TestGroup pitches it as a way to screen large groups before anyone reads a CV closely, and its own report recommends re-testing important decisions on the supervised Suite.
Three tests of 25 questions, usually after an interview
The Bridge Ability Suite, the full capaciteitentest: Bridge Verbaal, Bridge Numeriek and Bridge Abstract, 17 minutes each. Taken in a controlled environment. This is the one that carries weight in a selection decision.
A long questionnaire with no clock and no right answers
The Bridge Personality, 240 statements in 40 screens of six, about 40 minutes. Or The Bridge Career, 312 activity questions, about 30 to 35 minutes. If you were told you are sitting a 4-colour test, a Jung types test or a sales assessment, it is the personality questionnaire.
Your result comes back as a sten, and a 5 is not a fail
Every Bridge score, on the ability tests and the questionnaires alike, is a sten from 1 to 10against a norm group of 500 people at your education level. The scale has a midpoint of 5.5, so 5 and 6 are the middle of the distribution rather than a bare pass. TestGroup says it outright in the Bridge Career report: a 5 means about half the norm group scored lower and half higher, and "een score van 5 is dus geen onvoldoende, het is de score die de meeste mensen op een dimensie hebben".
We show you a percentile too, because that is the language most preparation material speaks, but our TestGroup feedback leads with the sten and the band label your real report will carry, and says explicitly when a mid score is the normal one. That is a deliberate difference from how we describe every other provider here, and it exists because the two vocabularies describe the same performance very differently.
An ability report carries four scores, not one. Totaalscore is how many you got right. Efficiëntie is the same thing corrected for guessing. Accuraatheid is right as a share of attempted. And Snelheid, despite the name, means how many questions you reached rather than how fast you answered them. The short Bridge Ability Online report carries seven: those four plus a sten for each domain.
That is why guessing hurts even without negative marking. Nothing is deducted from your Totaalscore for a wrong answer, which usually means guess at everything. Here it does not, because Efficiëntie sits beside it and is explicitly corrected for guessing. A blank costs you nothing there; a wrong answer does. TestGroup's own candidate advice is "wij raden je aan om weinig te gokken". You can see the diagnostic working in its published sample reports: one shows Snelheid 8 with Accuraatheid 1, which is the arithmetic signature of somebody who answered nearly everything at random.
There is no pass mark. No Bridge report we have seen carries one, and there is no overall percentile either. Employers set their own thresholds on top of the stens.
The Dutch words you will see, and what each one means
These are the exact strings from TestGroup's own material. Match your invitation against them before you start practising, because several of them are generic Dutch words that other publishers use too.

How we built these, and what we are not certain about
17 minutes or 18? TestGroup's candidate manuals say 25 questions in 17 minutes per subtest. Two of its product pages say "3 maal 18 minuten". The most likely reading is 17 minutes of test time inside an 18-minute block that includes the instruction screen, since the manuals say the clock does not start until the first real question. We build to 17 because the manual is the most specific and most candidate-facing source, and we state both figures rather than quietly picking one.
The ability tests are not adaptive. One third-party comparison article says TestGroup offers an adaptive version that adjusts the level automatically. We could not find that claim on any first-party capaciteitentest page, and we looked specifically. First-party adaptivity claims exist only for The Bridge Personality, where what is meant is the tie-break mechanism, and for The Bridge Career, where the questions narrow to your interests. So we build the ability tests as fixed forms at a level chosen up front, which is what the level system (mbo, hbo, wo) implies anyway.
The calculator question. The English numerical manual tells candidates to have a calculator to hand. The Dutch manual's equivalent list omits that line and the Dutch preparation advice says to learn to do difficult sums without one. We treat a calculator as allowed and keep the arithmetic light enough that it is not decisive either way.
The Bridge Ability Online item count is our choice. TestGroup publishes the 18-minute clock and the three-domain structure but not how many questions there are. We use 27, nine per domain, picked to keep the seconds per question near the Suite's 41. That is a design decision, not a sourced fact.
The Efficiëntie formula is ours. TestGroup says the score is corrected for guessing but does not publish the correction. We use the conventional one, subtracting wrong answers divided by the number of options minus one, which reproduces the pattern in both of TestGroup's published sample reports. The behaviour it rewards is the behaviour the vendor recommends, but the arithmetic is not theirs.
We shortened the two questionnaires. The real Bridge Personality is 240 statements in 40 screens and The Bridge Career is 312 questions. Ours run 18 screens of six each, which keeps the screen shape, the nine point scale and the tie-break rule exactly and costs you 20 minutes rather than 40. Everything that makes those instruments distinctive is in the mechanic, not in the length.
Three things on the real report we do not reproduce. The Bridge Personality report converts the profile into eight named competencies, and TestGroup does not publish which dimensions combine into each, so any mapping we invented would be ours wearing their labels. The Bridge Career report ranks Dutch occupations and study programmes from an unpublished library, and the same applies. And the personality report places you on a colour wheel across 72 positions, where we report the four colour scores without the wheel.
We do not know whether the real platform works on a phone. TestGroup describes the Bridge Assessment Platform only as a modern web application, and it does require pop-ups to be enabled, which points at a desktop. Our practice tests work properly at phone width because revising on a train is a real thing people do, but sit the real one on a laptop and enable pop-ups first, because a blocked pop-up will make the test look broken.
One name to recognise: TestGroup Consulting. Every candidate manual and sample report is footed "TestGroup Consulting" with a testgroup.eu address, while the current sites are testgroup.com, testgroup.nl and testgroup.be, and testgroup.eu now redirects to testgroup.nl. You log in at bridge-assessment.com. TestGroup, TestGroup Consulting, testgroup.eu and Bridge Assessment are all the same organisation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will my TestGroup assessment be in Dutch?
Very probably, if you are applying to a Dutch or Belgian employer. The employer picks the language when they order and it applies to every test in the assessment, so it is not your choice. Our practice is in English because the formats, the clock, the navigation and the strategy are what practice improves and those transfer. Dutch business vocabulary, Dutch number formatting and reading speed in Dutch do not.
What is a sten score, and is a 5 a fail?
A sten is a ten-band scale with a midpoint of 5.5, scored against a norm group of 500 people at your level. A 5 is not a fail. TestGroup says so in its own report: a 5 means roughly half the norm group scored lower and half higher, and it is the score most people get. Note that a sten is not a stanine, which has nine bands and a midpoint of 5.
How many questions is the capaciteitentest and how long do I get?
Each Bridge Ability Suite subtest is 25 questions. The candidate manuals say 17 minutes each; two product pages say 18. We build to 17 and show both figures. That is about 41 seconds a question including reading the passage or table, which is why almost nobody finishes.
Is it bad if I do not finish?
No. TestGroup states that the tests are designed so that almost nobody completes them in the time, and that not answering every question is not always a bad sign. Our scoring gives coverage no weight at all for that reason, and because an unreached question has already cost you on your total.
Should I guess?
Sparingly, which is TestGroup’s own advice. Nothing is deducted from your total for a wrong answer, but the report carries Efficiëntie beside it, which is corrected for guessing, so a wrong answer costs you on a score the employer sees and a blank does not. Skipping is free and you can come back, so park the hard ones.
Can I go back to a question I skipped?
On the ability tests, yes, and the manual tells you to. On the personality questionnaire and the career test, no: you can change an answer while you are on a screen, but once you press Next that screen is closed. That difference between the two halves of the suite is real and we reproduce it.
What does the Bridge Abstract test actually ask me to do?
Worked examples show what each operator key does to a figure. The question then shows a start figure and an end figure and asks which key produced the change, so you are inferring the rule backwards rather than applying a known one. At mbo level the options are written rule descriptions; at hbo and wo level they are the operator symbols. "Geen van alle" is always there and is sometimes correct.
Why does The Bridge Personality keep re-asking me things?
Because you gave two or more statements on a screen the same rating. Those statements come back as a forced choice asking which applies to you most and which least. It is the ipsative half of the questionnaire and it is where the Normatief-Ipsatief comparison on your report comes from. Using more of the nine point scale gives you fewer of these screens and a sharper profile.
Is the loopbaantest part of a selection process?
Usually not. The Bridge Career is mostly used for development, outplacement, reintegration and study choice. It maps what you would enjoy rather than what you can do, and no profile is better than another, so answering it honestly costs you nothing.
Do you practise the Bridge Personality Quickscan?
No, deliberately. It is a real product, 72 questions in 12 minutes across 12 competencies, but it is a short form of The Bridge Personality with the same response format, and we could not find a sample report to source its reporting model. Practising the full questionnaire covers it. Adding it as a seventh test would have looked like padding, and it would not change our price.
Companies That Use TestGroup (The Bridge)
The Bridge assessments are used by Dutch and Belgian employers, recruiters and consultancies, most often after a first interview rather than as an opening sift. Every organisation below comes from TestGroup’s own published client cases, and each entry says which Bridge test is involved and at what stage.
GP Groot
Waste & RecyclingThe Bridge Personality with a sales report, used in recruitment and selection since the end of 2014. Candidates who pass the first interview are invited to complete the test online and the results are discussed at the second interview.
Vibe Group
IT Recruitment & StaffingThe Bridge Personality plus the sales assessment, described as a fixed part of the recruitment process after an initial introductory interview at the Amsterdam office.
Kwink Groep
Public Sector ConsultancyThe Bridge Ability Suite capaciteitentest in recruitment and selection since 2017. The only published TestGroup case built on the ability tests rather than the personality questionnaire.
Young Group
Recruitment & ConsultancyThe Bridge Personality with the Online Sales Assessment, after two interviews, and also internally for development. The stated purpose is to substantiate or disprove an impression already formed rather than to screen.
Radboudumc
Healthcare & AcademiaThe Bridge Personality for internal leadership development, explicitly not for candidate selection: "Someone entering a leadership program isn’t in a leadership role at that moment."
B. Amsterdam
Workspace & StartupsThe Bridge Personality with a team report, used for team development rather than for hiring.
Two cautions specific to this provider. TestGroup publishes client cases for training institutes and consultancies that administer the tests to other organisations’ people, and those are not the same as an employer testing its own applicants, so they are not listed here. And several cases describe development or team work rather than selection, which is noted where it applies. Employers change assessment vendors over time, so confirm the current process for your role before preparing.
Practice by Test Type
Compare the same format across every provider that uses it, and see what each one is really measuring.
Numerical Reasoning Test Practice
Tables, charts, percentages and ratios against the clock. The most common screening test on graduate schemes and analyst roles.
Verbal Reasoning Test Practice
Short dense passages and true, false or cannot say answers. Judged on what the text supports, never on what you already know.
Logical Reasoning Test Practice
Shapes, sequences and flowcharts instead of words or numbers. Inductive, deductive, abstract, diagrammatic and spatial in one place.
Personality Test Practice for Job Applications
No right answers, which is exactly why they unsettle people. Learn the traits, the consistency checks and the formats before you sit one for real.
Not sure who sent your assessment? The provider identification guide matches product names to publishers, and our guide to Dutch capaciteitentest scoring explains stens, the four ability scores and why guessing costs you. If you are wondering whether any of this can be short-circuited, we answer that at can you cheat a capaciteitentest.
