Predictive Index (PI) Practice Tests

Practice the PI Cognitive Assessment (verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning) and the PI Behavioral Assessment. Get comfortable with the format and the timing before your real assessment.

What is the Predictive Index?

Two separate tests

PI pairs a cognitive ability test (PICA) with a behavioural questionnaire. Many employers use both: one predicts learning speed, the other workplace fit.

Fast and demanding

The cognitive test is 50 mixed questions in 12 minutes, so speed and accuracy both matter. Practising each skill separately is the most effective way to build both.

Four behavioural drives

The behavioural assessment maps Dominance, Extraversion, Patience and Formality, combining into named reference profiles that describe your natural work style.

What Each Test Measures

Verbal Reasoning

~5 minutes

Word analogies, synonyms, antonyms, odd-one-out and sentence completion at speed. Mirrors the verbal items in the PI Cognitive Assessment: pure language with tight timing.

Numerical Reasoning

~5 minutes

Rapid mental arithmetic, number series and percentages. No data tables: the challenge is spotting the right operation quickly, just like the numerical items in PICA.

Abstract Reasoning

~8 minutes

Spot the rule across a sequence of shape frames and choose the next one. Mirrors the abstract items in PICA: the strongest single predictor of how quickly you learn.

Behavioral Assessment

~6 minutes

Select the words that describe how others expect you to behave, then the words that describe who you really are. Produces a profile across the four PI drives, with no right or wrong answers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I practise the cognitive skills separately?

Yes. The real PICA mixes all three question types under one timer, but the best preparation is to build speed in each skill on its own first. Practise verbal, numerical and abstract as separate timed games, then you will handle the mixed test far more comfortably.

How is the PI Cognitive Assessment scored?

Your score is the number of correct answers within the time limit. There is no penalty for wrong answers, so it pays to keep moving and make an educated guess rather than getting stuck on any single question.

Are there right or wrong answers in the Behavioral Assessment?

No. It maps your natural drives rather than ability, so the best approach is to answer honestly and instinctively. Trying to present an "ideal" profile usually produces an inconsistent result between the two lists.

What are the four PI drives?

Dominance (drive to influence and take control), Extraversion (drive to connect with people), Patience (preference for a steady, consistent pace) and Formality (drive to follow rules and work precisely). Together they map to named reference profiles.

How can I improve my cognitive score?

Drill mental arithmetic and percentages for numerical, practise word relationships for verbal, and train pattern-spotting for abstract. Above all, practise under time pressure so you keep a fast, steady pace on the day.
